"What is the best Martial Arts Film ever made?"  We asked Martial Artists the question...

 
If you ever want to start a fight, try asking a group of epic martial artists and fight choreographers what the the best Martial Arts film ever made is? We promise it'll be a lively debate! It's ok though, being trained stunt professionals, we did this so you don't have to ;) ​
Martial Arts films have been a staple of Action Films and Cinema for decades, thrilling audiences with their fast-paced action, stunning fight choreography, and inspiring stories of discipline, perseverance and honour.

From the classics of the 1970s to the modern blockbusters of today, there are countless martial arts films to choose from. But which ones are truly the best? Here are our picks for the greatest martial arts movies of all time:
  1. Fist of Fury (1972)
    Directed by Lo Wei and starring Bruce Lee, Fist of Fury tells the story of a young man who seeks vengeance for his teacher's murder at the hands of a rival martial arts school.
  2. Ip Man (2008)
    Directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen, Ip Man is a biographical film about the legendary Wing Chun master who trained Bruce Lee.
  3. 13 Assassins (2010)
    Directed by Takashi Miike, 13 Assassins is a samurai film that follows a group of warriors who come together to take down a corrupt and sadistic lord.
  4. Wheels on Meals (1984)
    Directed by Sammo Hung and starring Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao, Wheels on Meals is a comedy action film about two food truck owners who get caught up in a kidnapping plot.
  5. Police Story (1985)
    Directed by Jackie Chan and starring himself, Police Story is an action-comedy film that follows a Hong Kong police officer who must take down a drug lord.
  6. Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior (2003)
    Directed by Prachya Pinkaew and starring Tony Jaa, Ong-Bak is a Thai martial arts film that follows a young man who must retrieve a stolen statue with the help of his Muay Thai skills.
  7. Iron Monkey (1993)
    Directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Donnie Yen, Iron Monkey is a period action film about a masked hero who fights corruption and injustice.
  8. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)
    Directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Uma Thurman, Kill Bill Vol. 1 is a revenge film about a former assassin who seeks to kill her former colleagues.
  9. Drunken Master (1978)
    Directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Jackie Chan, Drunken Master is a comedy action film about a young man who learns the art of drunken boxing from his master.
  10. Enter the Dragon (1973)
    Directed by Robert Clouse and starring Bruce Lee, Enter the Dragon is a classic martial arts film that follows a Shaolin martial artist who is sent to a remote island to compete in a martial arts tournament.
  11. Hero (2002)
    Directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Jet Li, Hero is a visually stunning wuxia film that tells the story of a warrior who must decide whether to assassinate a king.
  12. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
    Directed by Ang Lee and starring Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh, and Zhang Ziyi, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a martial arts epic about a stolen sword and a love triangle.
  13. The Raid: Redemption (2011)
    Directed by Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais, The Raid: Redemption is an Indonesian action film about a SWAT team that must take down a drug lord in a high-rise building.
  14. House of Flying Daggers (2004)
    Directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Andy Lau, Zhang Ziyi, and Takeshi Kaneshiro, House of Flying Daggers is a wuxia film about a love triangle and a rebel group.
