"It's all in the Blog"
The stunt industry is constantly evolving and adapting to changing technologies, regulations, and production demands. In recent years, there have been big changes that have affected the way stunts will be performed in the future, and who will be performing them. In this article, we'll explore some of these changes and how the industry is adapting to stay current and meet the fast-paced demands of the global entertainment industry. Increased Use of CGI and Practical Effects With the advancement of visual effects, there is an increased use of CGI for dangerous or impossible stunts. This allows for more creative and complex action sequences to be created, but also puts more pressure on the industry to ensure that practical effects and specialized equipment are used for safety. Despite the use of CGI, the industry is still very much reliant on the skills and expertise of stunt performers. In fact, the use of CGI has made practical stunts even more important as they are used to add realism and believability to the action scenes. Emphasis on Diversity and Inclusiveness There has been a greater focus on diversity and inclusiveness in the stunt industry in recent years. This is a reflection of the larger push for greater representation in all aspects of the entertainment industry. Stunt performers come from all walks of life, and there has been a growing recognition that a more diverse pool of talent brings new ideas, skills, and perspectives to the industry. This trend is likely to continue, with productions increasingly looking for ways to showcase a wide range of talent and skills. Greater Attention to Safety and Well-being The safety and well-being of stunt performers is of utmost importance in the industry. New regulations, equipment, and training techniques are being developed to keep up with the demands of evolving productions. The industry is also taking a more proactive approach to protecting the health and well-being of stunt performers, both on and off the set. This includes measures such as providing access to medical care and support services, as well as encouraging a culture of open communication and collaboration between performers, directors, and producers. So, the stunt and action acting industry is constantly changing and adapting to meet the demands of the entertainment industry. With the use of CGI, the emphasis on diversity and inclusiveness, and the greater focus on safety and well-being, the industry is in a state of constant evolution. However, despite these changes, the role of stunt performers, coordinators, choreographers and crews remains as important as ever, and the industry will continue to rely on their amazing experience, skills, expertise, and dedication to bringing thrilling and captivating action sequences to life.
